Upcoming Events at TAC
The North Central Conservation District Announces Our Annual Fundraiser, The 2009 Spring Plant Sale. We have an interesting and varied selection of trees, shrubs, and perennials, most native to New England, and most providing habitat for our local songbirds and butterflies. Many of the plants offered are difficult to find in local nurseries, and our prices are quite competitive. We also have an Edible Landscape section, this year featuring gooseberries, rhubarb, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
The sale is by pre-order, starting in February, with pick-up April 17th and 18th. Order deadline is April 1st. You can obtain our plant brochure by calling us at 875-3881, by stopping by our office at the TAC, or by going on-line at www.conservect.org/northcentral. There you can download the order form and brochure, and peruse our supplemental photo and plant information gallery. Think spring!

A few important words from the Manager
Spring is here and people are busy. Things are greening up and the farmers are finally able to get into the fields.
TAC is now moving ahead with our Scholarship plans. We have looked into different ways of setting up the funds and we are getting closer to a solution.
As some of you know the status of any non-profit is important when you are setting up and distributing funds for a scholarship. We are working on ways to handle all of these situations at our regular meeting.
TAC is in good hands with the current Board of Trustees. Varied interests and experience are what keep the ideas flowing.
As you are all aware, energy costs are now a part of everyone’s life. Nobody can not keep up with the energy costs that change on a daily basis. TAC is doing it’s best to conserve energy and natural resources and we would like to encourage all of you to do the same.
My message is short this month, but I wanted to let all of you know that we at TAC are aware that there are many challenges and daily issues that are affecting all of us and that we will do our part to take care of the needs of TAC.
Have a great spring & summer season.
Ross

Tolland County Agricultural Center, Inc. Establishes a Scholarship Endowment Fund
It was the goal of the people who founded the Tolland County Agricultural Center, Inc. in 1956 to be able to provide an oasis focusing on agriculture.Since then many things have changed, however the one thing that has not changed is the desire to continue to provide a place where agricultural programs and education are made available to all people.
The 2007 Tolland County Agricultural Center, Inc. Board of Trustees took this goal one step further. The 2008 TAC Board of Trustees is establishing an endowment fund that will provide a Scholarship to be awarded to a Tolland County student who is planning to further his or her education in an agricultural field. The 2007 budget allocated $500.00 and each of the members of the 2007 Board of Trustees personally pledged $50.00 to the endowment fund.A great foundation has been established for this fund but we will need the help of the many supporters of TAC to “fertilize” the fund in a way that will allow this endowment fund “grow” as rapidly as possible.
